CPAP Therapy
CPAP is an acronym for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure. CPAP is the most commonly prescribed treatment for snoring and sleep apnea. CPAP delivers constant airflow during sleep so preventing the closing of the airway that characterises both of these sleep disorders. CPAP is a prescribed treatment which is overseen by a Sleep Physician.
A CPAP device uses air from the room to create a pressurised flow which is then delivered into your airways through your nose and/or mouth via a flexible hosing and mask system. The continuous pressurised airflow helps keep the airways open during sleep, allowing air to be succesfully received by your lungs. With airways remaining open, the likelihood of sleep arousal as a consequence of narrowing or closed airways is greatly reduced.
There are many CPAP devices and masks available. MCS Sleep and Snoring offer a wide range of products from ResMed, Philips Home Healthcare, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare and Transcend along with many accessories. Our snoring and sleep apnea products are all fully validated and have TGA approval in Australia.
Using a CPAP device may take a little getting used to, this is why we also offer rental of all therapy goods prior to making any decision to purchase. During your trial period you will have comprehensive support from one of our CPAP Specialists to ensure that you end up with the right product for your needs.
